Collegiate Recovery Meetings & Calendar

1 on 1 Recovery Peer Support Meetings

1 on 1 Recovery Peer Support Meetings are with fellow UC San Diego students who share the experience of addiction and recovery. Recovery Peer Support students are here to walk side by side with you during your recovery journey.

Recovery coaches provide many types of strengths-based of support, including:

  • Emotional (empathy, care, and concern to help with self-esteem and self-confidence)
  • Informational (connections to campus and community resources such as counseling, skills seminars)
  • Instrumental (connections to concrete assistance such as basic needs and job opportunities)
  • Affiliational support (connections to activities and events such as extracurricular activities within and outside of CRP)

Coaches do not provide any mental health diagnoses or addiction diagnosis.

Meeting Information

Our meeting times and locations are listed on our Google Calendar. Please see below to learn more about the meetings we host at UC San Diego:

All Recovery

Student-led meeting, open to those in any type of stage of recovery. All pathways of recovery are embraced here. Each meeting has a topic chosen by whoever is leading the meeting, and is followed by discussion from the group. No recovery experience required.

SMART Recovery

Student-led meeting, open to those in any type of stage of recovery. SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) Recovery meetings are free self-empowering mutual support group meetings focused on addictive behaviors, organized and facilitated by trained peers or professional staff. SMART encourages self-empowerment and personal choice to identify and change unhelpful behaviors or thought patterns. We often discuss ideas for thinking and acting differently and work to create a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment. No recovery experience is required.

Open 12 Step Meeting

Student-led meeting, modeled on the 12-step process (AA, NA, etc) and meant to give the experience of a typical meeting. You will hear readings and language pulled from 12 step literature. This is to try and give the clearest understanding of the recovery experience found in 12 step programs.

UC System Wide Open Recovery Meditation

Student-led meeting for students at any UC campus. This meeting is open to students in recovery from any UC campus (friends & alumni are welcome too!) as well as those considering recovery.
